Want to know where your donation is going?

Since Compassion Weavers is an organization that gives directly to the people, the amount of a donation can be put directly towards a specific program. Below are just a couple of the ways in which your donation might be used.

Emergency Relief: Food Distributions

A donation of only $35 can provide 80 meals for a family. A 25 kg sack of rice costs $20, while beans are a bit more expensive (at least double the price). Providing meals of 3 parts rice to 1 part beans, we can ensure that a family is getting plenty of proteins, vitamins and minerals, as well as filling their bellies. The goal is to help 5,000 families ($175,000).

Planting Fruit Trees

By giving $50, we can purchase and plant trees that are not seedlings, but will give fruit soon. Trees planted provide fresh fruit for our hospital, orphanages and schools, along with our health and malnutrition programs. This program encourages the natural growth of Haitian trees along with providing nourishment. The goal is to plant 3,000 trees  ($150,000).

Emergency Relief: Helping a Child

With a donation of $100, a child suffering malnourishment can be brought back to health. We use natural foods, as well as enriched products (such as Plumpy Nut Peanut Butter) to provide a child with the essentials: protein, vitamins and minerals. The goal is to help 1000 children ($100,000).

Helping Farmers

With a donation of $150, we can help a farmer with 10 bags of fertilizer and a few pounds of seeds. This is a one-time “loan” offer which we ask the farmer to pay back. Over time, we expect a 50% return. That 50% is then used for the orphanage, creating an ecologically helpful project that encourages independence, introduces person responsibility (by partial repayment) and allows funds to cycle back through our projects. The goal to is to help 1000 farmers (a total of $150,000).
